My Monday Metrical Musings #237

Rounding Corner 25

Before we both could blink our eyes
We’ve rounded Corner 25
Who knew it took but a moment of time
We’re here still walking this fine line

Our lives so deeply intrinsically tied
No way we could slip and slide
Yes of course we rose and fell
These lines and wrinkles, oh can’t you tell?

No one promised us a rose garden
Even then gardens need battle-hardened
Warriors to weigh in and fight the good fight
To till the soil, tend the leaves, every day and night

It’s been a roller coaster of a ride
Some days we’re overwhelmed by the tide
Of life’s vicissitudes and endless strife
Wanting to throw the towel in, give up on life

Yet we’ve continued along this winding road
Rounding corner after corner, bearing each other’s load
Even picking up two passengers along the way
Who’ve enriched our lives, helping us to stay

Together in our quest to figure life out
See what eternity holds and what it’s all about
Next corner will be 50, will we get there?
Who knows? For now, here’s to this odd pair

Happy anniversary to us my love!
Round this 25 corner….
