The Psalms, King David & HIM!
As a frenetic season arrives today
All huffing and puffing like a grizzly bear
I pause and ask where my help comes from
And the answer came – My God who cares!
King David too knew a thing or two
About times of despair and strife
He wrote many entreaties unto His God
Asking Him to spare his miserable life
These include the seventh and the 27th
The 31st, 34th and also the 52nd
Psalms that are found in the Old Testament
Testaments to the fact that God’s triumphant
I desperately need in the weeks ahead
Much calm, peace & serenity despite my dread
At the demands and deadlines that threaten to unravel
My carefully woven fabric. My…
…home
…hearth
…haven.
God knows I’m not great in crisis mode
I tend to fall apart faster than dominoes
Without His steady hand to arrest my fall
I’ll even drag down others responding to my SOS call
So the Psalms I just named bearing King David’s name
Contain the very breath of God to keep me sane
Though I fear what this week and beyond will bring
I know I’m alright as long as I have…

…the Almighty God.
