Advent Musings #1/5 — Hope
They say that Hope
Is all but gone
And in many ways
It’s true
Each time we open
A browser tab for news
Less the exception
More the rule
We’ll find nothing but
Conflicts and chaos
Carnage and calamities
There seems little we can do
For all around us
The color of this rock Earth is
Rusty, bloody red or
Toxic, industrial blue
But surely ’tis the season
To be gold, green, and jolly too
Surely the purveyors of doom
Can take a vacation or two
While we light scented candles
And sing Christmas carols
With voices choral
And hearts so full
Arms raised to heaven
With Hope and Joy for more tomorrows
Clear skies no drones or fear
And no heart-wrenching sorrows
But for that to be
We each must agree
It’s up to us to keep Hope alive
Pursuing Peace at any price
It won’t be easy
It may cost our very lives
The tighter and closer to it
We cling
It did, for Someone
Over two thousand years ago
His sacrifice bought us
Time to think
To sow the harvest
For the morrow
Giving Hope and Love a chance to
Flourish and grow
The question though
Before us now
Is will we heed
The call and bow
The knock on our door
Hope desires and beckons
Or do we watch this rock hurtle
To one colossal Armageddon?

Absolutely outstanding. It draws me in and requires my response. Yet once again by His strength anew, I say Yes!”
Good job Kelvin for weaving the xmas spirit into a lovely poem! Wishing you and family a wonderful year-end break 🙂
