My Monday Metrical Musings #195

Moving On

Learning to move on
Doesn’t come naturally for me
There was a time in my life
When dwelling on hurts was my revelry

I’m not proud of that season of my life
I wish I had more gumption
To tear apart that veil
Which obscured my poor vision

To see that languishing
In one’s own pain own feeling
Will lead to life-long toxicity
And be my ultimate undoing

So it’s time to move on
To pack up my boxes and baggages
Of heartbreaks, disappointments, recriminations
And to send them away over cliff edges

I just hope I won’t ever revisit these hurts
Or at least if I do, I’ll have a better hold
Of what they have wield in my little world
So that never again will it exert on me a toll
