My Monday Metrical Musings #188

A Community of Fathers

Funny to think it took 15 years
To find other dads to talk about parenting fears
Or laughs and lifehacks to while away the time
Between diapers and dishes and losing my mind

But better late than never I always say
At least I know it’s no more a lonely way
To be a counter-cultural dad like me
There are other dads too looking for company

So now as we celebrate our second Father’s Day
As one big community of dads who stay
At home more than they do elsewhere
We’re united now and can better bear

The challenges that come with being dads
To one, two, five or more little ladies and lads
But also the joy that springs forth abundant
As we watch them blossom like a radiant fountain

I’m glad I stayed the course and didn’t give up
Though so many times I’ve emptied my cup
Of all my energy and mental tenacity
As I parent my boys to maturity

For now I’ve a community of dads to seek
Help when the going plunges me far and deep
Into despair that no words can express
I go to them to find my solace

Many thanks my Ordinary Dad!

Happy Father’s Day!
