Bespoke Reality

With what can we describe
This world we live in now?
Bespoke reality I think
Nicely sums it all up

We pick and choose
What we think is best for us
Never mind what’s true and just
Or what’s always thus

We forge our own paths
We tick our own boxes
Forgoing what oughta fit
Preferring the frills and fashions

I know it’s tempting
To think it’s just a trend
In time people will wise up
Return to communing again

But no I’m afraid
That’s not gonna happen
Bespoke is now the way
No one thinks very much about heaven

We don’t see things as they are
(Right there before our eyes)
We see things as we are
Said Nin Anais

We have, says Edward Wilson,
Paleolithic emotions
Medieval institutions
God-like innovations

That explains oh so well
Our constant distractions
Any wonder the mass of men
Live lives of quiet desperation
?

Bespoke reality and culture
Leave us each isolated
Trapped in our own echo chamber
Stuck in our own little islet

What will it take to poke a hole
To destroy this construct now
Re-set the old world order
Restore us back to Zero Ground?

A return to what’s good, true and just
A global village that’s for each one of us
And not just for the privileged few
To mold and shape as they so choose
