My Monday Metrical Musings #108

shallow focus photo of couple holding each others hands

Day and Night

Day
She wanted everything safe
She wanted everything the same

Night
He wanted to experience the pain
He wanted to go against the grain

Day
She wanted warm sunshine
She wanted joy and peacetime

Night
He wanted the eerie moonlight
He wanted wistful by midnight

Day
She hated to say goodbye
He wanted her to fly

Night
He hated to say he was wrong
She wanted a hopeful song

Day and night
Night and day
She’s out one door, he’s in the other
So hard to find a common point
This distance stands
Between us
For we don’t think
Alike

Still, we know
It’s gonna be
All right

Still, we know
We want only to hold
Each other tight

Day and Night
Night and Day

  1. Is it just me? Or are you getting much more readership (just guessing through Likes) for your poems? Maybe you’re discovering what your audience wants right there. You do get more engagement for your articles though, so I guess it all balances out.
