My Monday Metrical Musings #222

A Month To Say Goodbye

The boxes scattered everywhere
Remind me the time is nigh
Days go by so very fast
We’re now a month to goodbye!

Each box contains a memory
Every one a piece of our past
25 years we’ve lived here
We thought it would last and last

The books especially I long to keep
Each one a special part of me
Forming an avatar of who I am
And who I long to be

The little figurines of Snoopy
A total of 54 treasures
Those I’m never gonna part from
They remind me of life’s pleasures

I know I shouldn’t get sentimental
Moving house is part and parcel of life
Yet I can’t help but grieve this irreversible loss
I wonder how I’ll ever survive

A month to say goodbye
More months to get accustomed
To new surroundings, sounds, sights
New neighbors, and then some

Change truly is the only constant
As a quarter of a century goes by
Who would have thought this was it?
This final month to say goodbye

  1. You’re going to make new and beautiful memories in your next home….. with the same , constant family members you already have. 🙂 Give yourself space to grieve but don’t forget that new and good things are still awaiting you in the new place!
