My Monday Metrical Musings #160

Cloud Atlas

Lives across time and space
Lives connected. Intricately traced
Who knew the vastness of souls united
For a common cause not easily blighted.

It felt like so many cumulous clouds
All clustered, cloistered. What’s it all about?
But like a freefall or a float down the river
I let the timelines carry me unstopping unhindered

To new worlds hitherto unexplored
To feelings emotions yet to be discovered
To parallel storylines previously unconnected
To see with new eyes the search for forever

Such great expanse can never come
When one’s too wrapped up in the here and now
What a joy to be set free and to wander
Beyond the stars to an infinite universe

Where I can live and breathe multiple lives
Uncountable stories yet inexorably conjoined
Adventures that plunder the depths of imagination
New loves. New dangers. New purpose. New strangers.

So what if it’s long? Almost three hours!
The important thing is that it’s opened up whole new portals
Of wonder and delight at the threads that connect us
Our sentient existence so interwoven

We are not an island entire to ourselves
We live the same space. Every inch every mile
We owe it to each other to sustain and be bounded
An atlas of clouds in the sky
Forever enmeshed together.

[Inspired by the movie of the same title]
