My Monday Metrical Musings #280

man standing on cliff

On The Brink

Ever felt on the brink
Of something massive?
Well I have
Every other day
But then the lethargy descends
Like ether from the air
And I’m narcotisised

Ever felt on the brink
Of something monumental?
Well I have
Every other week
But then reality bites
Like a snake in the night
And I’m anaesthesized

Ever felt on the brink
Of something murderous?
Well I have
Every other month
But then I wake up and realise
It’s foolishness
To get oneself arrested

Ever felt on the brink
Of something close to death
Well I have
Some ten or more years back
Plucked from near wreckage
With metal as appendage
Imagine that!

On the brink
No time to think
Only react
No looking back
Cos time doesn’t wait
It never hesitates
As hard as I pull
Time won’t slow for me nor you

I can’t get time back
Sitting on the edge
So I must close my lids
And simply leap
Next time I find me
On the brink
