Singing Hallelujah
The moments I feel overwhelmed
Are those when words leave me
When I feel the walls closing in
And I am simply drowning
That’s when I get down on my knees
With my face lifted up to the clouds
And I sing a loud Hallelujah
Giving thanks for my circumstance
I know it doesn’t make any sense
Then again few things in life do
Who would believe kneeling down (with thanksgiving)
Will reverse a current misfortune
Yet I have no words
That are fit for a king
A saviour who will rescue me
From life’s bitter stings
Except for a simple Hallelujah
From inside my humble little heart
It’s all that I have to offer
I’ve got precious little else
It doesn’t always mean
That the tide of fate will turn
But there’s peace in my surrender
And I’m left far less burdened
So sing a Hallelujah
The next time you feel overwhelmed
And who knows maybe like me
You’ll find solace and be set free
