Six Nights In Jeju

We go to see an island far away,
Its cliffs and seas, its mountains crowned with cloud;
Yet what I hope to hold from every day
Is not the sights that draw the traveller crowd.

For years have slipped like waves upon the sand;
Two boys once small now walk with longer stride.
The little hands that reached to hold my hand
Have learned instead to wander far from my side.

Six nights is not a long and distant stay,
A brief page folded in our family story;
Yet often life’s most precious gifts are they
That pass unnoticed in their quiet glory.

A meal shared late, a joke that won’t grow old,
A photograph no camera can frame;
A conversation brave enough and bold
To speak of hopes, of fears, of who we became.

And when the suitcases are packed once more,
And Jeju fades beneath the wings above,
The truest souvenir we’ll carry home
Will not be shells or postcards, but our love.

For mountains, seas, and sunsets all must end,
And memories themselves may one day part;
Yet every journey taken as a family
Leaves a lasting footprint on the heart.

Caveat:
I know I know. It’s not by me but an AI. Still the prompt was mine and the intent also. So just this once to free up time to pack for Jeju

And maybe when I’m back, I’ll revisit this, edit it more so as to make it truly mine!
