My Monday Metrical Musings #128

books on shelves

So many books, so little time

Books books
Scattered everywhere.
Don’t believe me?
Come and see!

Study room, rocking chair
Meal tables, they’re anywhere
On the shelves and on the floor
Sometimes blocking my bedroom door!

In my car, on my bed
In the kitchen next to a loaf of bread
On the couch and on the dresser
Even slotted snugly in my bedroom slipper!

There’s no lack of novels/non-fiction
For me to dive headlong into
But there’s just so little time
What’s a busy dad to do?

So many books
So little time
As my eyesight goes
And I’m way past my prime

Do I turn to audiobooks
Kindle White or a Kobo?
Save the space, close my eyes
Let the narrator sing a lullaby?

But I love books around me
They’ve been my stay since young
So many rhythms
So many rhymes
So many worlds
Waiting to unfurl

Oh!

So many books
So many books

Yet…

I have so precious

Little time!

  1. Sounds like you have books in every nook and cranny of your home, and I must say, that’s a pretty awesome problem to have. It’s always comforting to be surrounded by the stories and knowledge that books offer.

I personally love audiobooks as they allow me to multitask while still enjoying a good story, but I understand the appeal of physical books and the joy they bring.

Just like writing, keep on reading, Kelvin!

      1. Haha what a coincidence! Guess what? Me too! I’m starting to think this definitely isn’t one of King’s better works! LOL!!
