Drilling
All day long
Like a swarm of bees
One retaining wall away
No “don’t mind us please.”
When you live in a nation
In constant
Construction
Deconstruction
Reconstruction
You gotta expect unending periods of
Consistent
Disruptions
Frustrations
But when it’s one wall away
Over ten hours nearly every day
This endless swarm
Of unending humdrum
Stays well in one’s mind
Even after the workers’
Knock-off time
Oh why oh why
Are we always
Upgrading
Renovating
Improving?
Never ever satisfied
Nor content
Chasing after the next
Polished gem
My my the sound
Of constant drilling
Plays ever now like an ear-worm
Digging and tunneling
Branding into my skull
Destroying my sanctuary
Unraveling my weekend revelry
