Outside my window
Outside my window
A mountain
Reaching up to heaven
Each day outside my window
In my
Imagination.
Outside my window
A lake
As far as my eye can see
Shining bright
In blinding daylight
A mirror
Reflection.
Outside my window
A forest
Breathing pulsating
Ever so quietly
Birds chirping
Leaves rustling
Branches oh so gently
Swaying.
Outside my window
The ocean
Pounding soaring
With every riptide
Its roaring
Reverberates
Deafening in its
Majestic and imperious
Stride.
Outside my window
Concrete
Stoic and impervious
Blocking out every
Evidence of life
Trapping me
In this brutal
Isolation.
Outside my window
Outside my window
Is where I must make my
Escape.
To freedom
To life
Never returning
To this prison
Ever
Again!
[Note to reader: I took ten minutes to write this. After reading it, my 12-year-old penned his version in five! Comparing both, I think we’re about the same age!]

Two authors in the same family. Congratulations.
