Borrowed Time
As the sun comes up
On a brand new day.
The birds a-chirping
On their merry way.
I wake up, and
I wonder
Am I living on borrowed time?
Thinking back to lost ones
Who left us too young.
Those whom I used to spar with
In class and schoolyard fun.
I look back now, and
I wonder
Am I living on borrowed time?
Whenever I fall ill
Lying down in agony.
Coughing sneezing sweating
Feeling only misery.
Then I recover, and
I wonder
Am I living on borrowed time?
When I watch my kids
While they change shoe size.
Putting on bigger clothes
And making mommy sigh
I laugh aloud, and
I wonder
Am I living on borrowed time?
Perhaps it’s pointless
To ponder this way
Life goes on after all
Eat sleep work and play.
Treasure each day
Don’t wonder
For we’re all
Living on
Borrowed time!
Love this Kelvin! Thanks for sharing 😊
Good reminder. Thank you, Kelvin. Each day is a gift. Some are wrapped in sorrow and others in pain. But if I take the time to unwrap today, there is a gift inside.
