Ice Cream

I just wanted some
Ice cream
To whittle away these
Blistery summer days
That scorch my tongue
Day after day after day
To melt all my cares
All my fears
Away
Even for a moment
No matter how
Cliche
That first bite
Like eventide
Cool
Composed
Comforting
Calming
But I don’t get ice cream
I get
Cross-fit
Cut-backs
Cages
Consequences
I get lost
Foggy
Foraging
Forever
So please just gimme ice cream
A return to what had been
Times of childish innocence
A shot of chocolate
With a dash of cinnamon
And a hint of
Mint
To let my senses soar
Like that egret I just saw
As I stare out my window
While defeated and sprawled
On my cold hard kitchen floor
Oh how I wish to leave this wretched world
Behind
Just for an instance
Sweet
Sublime
Surrender
If only I could get me some
Ice cream

Aw yeah now I’m craving for some Inside Scoop. Didn’t know (or perhaps I’ve overlooked) that you did poetry! Wonderful stuff.
I wouldn’t dare call it poetry (notice in my menu I named it “Poems” instead). Better just stick to calling them “metrical musings”. But anyway, thanks for the confidence boost. Deeply appreciate as always!
I did not know words could be so tasty!
