On April Fool’s Day 2020 – Celebrating 20 years of marriage

Yep.

Your eyes aren’t playing an April fool’s trick.

You can immediately count that in 2000 I was married.

On a foolhardy day. Literally!

Those were heady times.

Turning 30.

Turning from single-hood to marriage-hood.

Turning from a co-tenant in my parent’s home…
…to a co-landlord in our own.

And now in 2020

As I look back over the past 20

I ask myself:

What the hell made people do it?

Why on earth do they last this long?

How in heaven’s name do they make it from 10 to 20?…to 30/40/50…?

I honestly don’t know – don’t ask me.

And I suspect I never will.

But today I choose to say a big “Thank You”.

Thank You, for helping us find one another.

Thank You, for the storms You helped us weather.

Thank You, for the children You’ve brought to us untethered.

All in all, it’s not a joke that we’ve rallied together.

Through ups and downs, smiles and frowns.

(It’s not a cliché either)

Will there be 20 more? 30 more? …?

I hope so. I really hope so.

Happy 20 my sweet!

Happy 20!

  1. Congrats and blessings on this special day. It’s indeed a memorable day – it helps you remember your vows – for better or for worse, for richer or for poorer. Take care and be safe.
